Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information VYBE collects when you use the website or the Android and iOS apps, how it is used, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are
VYBE is operated by Lewis Perkins (VYBE), the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: lewis.perkins72@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), display name, username and date of birth (used to confirm you are 13 or older).
- Profile details you choose to add: avatar, cover photo, bio, location, mood, website, music link, profile theme, featured friends and pinned post.
- Content you create: posts, photos, videos, comments, reactions, wall posts, stories, polls, quizzes, whiteboards, events, RSVPs and group posts.
- Messages: direct and group messages, images sent in chat, message reactions, read receipts and typing indicators.
- Connections: friends, friend requests, follows, blocks, group memberships and saved posts.
- Activity and progress: XP, levels, achievements, daily challenges, notifications and online status.
- Reports: reports you file about users or content, and moderation decisions.
- Device data: if you enable phone alerts, a push notification token for your device. Basic technical data (such as browser type and IP address) is processed by our hosting provider to deliver and secure the service.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not show third-party ads.
3. How we use it and our legal basis
- To provide VYBE (accounts, profiles, feeds, messaging, groups, events) — necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To keep VYBE safe (preventing spam and abuse, reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms) — our legitimate interest in a safe community.
- To send notifications you have turned on — your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time.
- To meet legal obligations when required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Who can see your information
Your profile, posts and activity are visible according to the privacy settings you choose (Everyone, Friends or Only me) and your Settings → Privacy choices. Messages are visible only to members of that conversation. Administrators may review content that has been reported, to enforce our Terms.
5. Service providers
We use trusted providers to run VYBE: cloud hosting, database and file storage for the app, and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver phone alerts if you enable them. They process data only on our instructions. Some providers may process data outside your country; where required, appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses are used.
6. How long we keep data
- Account, profile, content and messages are kept while your account is active.
- Stories disappear from VYBE after 24 hours.
- When you delete your account, your profile, posts, comments, messages, media and other personal data are deleted. Limited records may be kept where the law requires it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. You can edit most information directly in the app. To make any other request, email lewis.perkins72@gmail.com; we will respond within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete my account. If you cannot sign in, see how to request deletion.
9. Children
VYBE is not for children under 13. We check date of birth at sign-up. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, uploaded media is stored privately with access rules, and access to your content is restricted by your settings. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
11. Changes
We will update this page and the date above when this policy changes, and tell you in the app about significant changes.
